FUTMINNA SUG announces first Niger State inter-collegiate games

The Student Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), through the Office of the Director of Sports, has announced the maiden edition of the Niger State Inter-Collegiate Games.


According to a press release issued on Thursday, 2nd January 2026, the historic sporting event is scheduled to hold from 8th to 14th February, 2026. The competition is expected to bring together athletes and students from various tertiary institutions across Niger State in celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and excellence.


The games will feature several sporting events hosted across multiple venues within Minna and FUTMINNA. The approved venues and events include:

Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna – Badminton, Table Tennis, and Combat Games

FUTMINNA and 123 Indoor Sports Complex – Basketball

Minna Sports Club – Squash

FUTMINNA – Volleyball

College of Education, Minna – Tennis

123 Field – Athletics

FUTMINNA G.K and Mohammed Umaru Bago Field – Football

Participation in the games is open to all bona fide students of tertiary institutions within Niger State, including Pre-Degree, Diploma, Certificate, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate students.

The SUG called on all stakeholders and participants to cooperate fully to ensure the success of the inaugural edition, describing it as a landmark initiative in the state’s sporting history.

The press release was signed by the SUG Director of Sports, Comr. Siraj Sultan, who emphasized that sports remain a vital tool for unity and development among students.
