Kebbi Govt deploys troops to Shanga after bandit attacks on four villages
The Kebbi State Government has deployed additional troops and equipment to Shanga Local Government Area following deadly attacks by suspected bandits on four villages.
The gunmen reportedly struck Tungar Giwa, Kaiwa, Gebbe, and Gurwo villages on Wednesday night, killing several residents, including one whose head was reportedly severed during the assault.
Kebbi Director of Security, Abdurrahman Zagga, said the state government authorised the reinforcement of security personnel to prevent further attacks and apprehend the fleeing bandits.
He added that coordinated strategies between the government and security agencies have been implemented to protect lives and property in the affected areas.
Residents of the attacked communities have fled their homes, seeking refuge in neighbouring towns and local government headquarters.
Many villagers abandoned their farms, livestock, and personal belongings, raising concerns about food security and urgent humanitarian needs.
Local leaders have appealed to the government for continued support and swift action to restore safety and stability in Shanga LGA.
