Former Big Brother Naija star, Queen Mercy Atang, has spoken out to clear the air on several misconceptions surrounding her life, especially after news broke that her one-year marriage to David had reportedly ended.

In a detailed Instagram post on Monday, Queen revealed that she has been subjected to harsh labels, with some people calling her everything from a “prostitute” to an “unfit wife.” She explained that she has reached a point where she can no longer stay silent while unfamiliar people create and spread false narratives about her.

Queen expressed disbelief over claims circulating that some people “in the U.S.” had called her degrading names. She clarified that she has barely lived in America, making such allegations baseless. According to her, she only visited the U.S. once between 2017 and 2018 long before she became popular staying briefly with a relative in Houston before heading to Florida for a pageant.

This made her question how such stories were formed by individuals who had neither met her nor interacted with her family. She asked pointedly:

“So where exactly did your ‘USA people’ see me and decide I was a prostitute?”

Queen acknowledged that her family would likely be unhappy that she finally chose to respond publicly but said setting the record straight was necessary.

She also addressed speculations that she posted her husband online just to provoke her child’s father. Queen dismissed this, insisting she has never shared anything about her baby daddy on social media. According to her, she only posted her marriage out of genuine joy, just like any excited newlywed would.

She added that if her husband had preferred to keep their wedding private, she would have still shared her own photos without ever revealing the identity of her child’s father.
