Army destroys bandits’ camps in Taraba, arrests key suspect, recovers weapons
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have continued its offensive across Taraba State, destroying bandits’ camps, arresting a key suspect, and recovering weapons in a series of coordinated operations.
The army launched a clearance mission on 2 December in Shiid, Agia and Tyozua villages in Takum local government receiving intelligence on the activities of armed groups in the Tor-Tser area.
Soldiers advanced toward the mountainous hideouts, forcing the bandits to flee and abandon their camps.
The troops later searched and destroyed the camps.
“On 2 December 2025, troops launched a deliberate clearance operation under Operation Zafin Wuta across Shiid, Agia and Tyozua villages in Takum LGA following credible intelligence on the activities of armed groups within the Tor-Tser general area.”
During the operation, fleeing bandits set fire to a wooden bridge in Tyozua to slow the soldiers, but the troops pushed forward and drove the criminals across the power line into Benue State.
One suspect, identified as Dahiru Maigari, was arrested and is now under investigation.
In a separate patrol on 4 December around Karim Lamido, troops came under fire from armed men hiding near Wudompi Community.
The soldiers quickly responded, killing two attackers and recovering an AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of ammunition. No soldier was injured. The attackers were believed to be part of the Karimjo faction trying to regroup in the area.
The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and bravery.
He said the operations show that no part of the terrain is beyond the reach of the Nigerian Army and assured residents of Taraba that the brigade will continue to pursue criminals and maintain pressure until peace is restored.
