20 players from Cross River off to Jos for Deaf Football Championship
Governor Baseey Otu of Cross River State has sponsored 20 players and five officials to the 6th National Deaf Football Championship, taking place in Jos, Plateau State.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Mr Lawrence Eta, said, “Governor Otu gave express directive that the state must participate in the 6th National Deaf Football Championship.
“It’s a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting sports development, especially for people with disabilities.”
Team’s Manager Ugbong Thomas expressed optimism about the team’s prospects and commended the State Sports Commission for providing the team with kits to represent the state at the national level.
The Cross River State Deaf Football team departed for Jos from U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
