Bandits kill two, injure vigilante in Kwara community attack
Two persons died and one vigilante injured on Tuesday in an attempted bandits attack on Eruku community of Ekiti Local Government in the Kwara South Senatorial District, WAPLOADED reports.
Scores of residents were also allegedly abducted in the bloody attack by the bandits.
The deceased were identified as one Aderemi and Tunde Asaba Ajayi who died as a result of fatal gunshot injuries in the attack by armed bandits.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, which occurred at about 18:00hours, in a statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi.
The command disclosed that the “Divisional Police Officer in Eruku and his team of police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes, swiftly responded to the sound of gunshots emanating from the outskirts of the town, prompting the hoodlums to flee into the bush.
”Upon thorough search of the area, one male victim; Mr Aderemi was discovered fatally shot inside the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun; while one Mr Tunde Asaba Ajayi another victim of fatal gunshot was found in the bush, and a vigilante, Segun Alaja who also sustained gunshot injuries was immediately rushed to ECWA Hospital, Eruku, for medical treatment.”
State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, commended the swift response of the police and vigilantes.
He also assured the public that security agencies will not relent until the hoodlums are totally decimated.
