2026 WCQ playoffs: SAFA president Jordan backs Super Eagles to beat Congo

Danny Jordan, President of the South African Football Association, SAFA, is backing the Super Eagles to defeat the Democratic Republic of Congo, DAILY POST reports.

Nigeria and DRC will meet in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on Sunday.

South Africa beat the Super Eagles to the automatic qualification spot in Group C.

Despite the strong rivalry between the two countries, Jordan declared his support for Nigeria. He stated that the Super Eagles have the quality to overcome their opponents.

“Nigeria was in our group; it was a tight group and very stressful. I want to wish Nigeria the best in their match against the Democratic Republic of Congo. To Amaju Pinnick, my friend and the president of the NFF (Ibrahim Gusau), I wish them the best,” Jordan said in a short video posted on SAFA’s X account.

“Nigeria is a big team; they have players who are among the best in the world, and I hope they will play true to their form and ability and get a good result.”

Tomorrow’s encounter will kick off at 8 pm Nigerian time.
