Police reopen Adamawa acid attack case after public outcry

The Adamawa State Police Command says it has taken note of growing public concern and recent media reports about the acid attack that happened in 2023 involving three victims, including Miss Eve Usman Kwala.

According to the police in a post on its Facebook page, the incident left the victims with serious injuries and was reported at the time, but no suspect was successfully apprehended during the initial investigation.

The Command says because of renewed public attention and emotional appeals from affected persons and concerned members of the public, it has now decided to reopen the case to identify the attackers and ensure justice is served.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris Psc (+), has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) to get to work.

According to the statement, the commissioner ordered them to “Review and reassess the entire case file without delay. Gather all human and material evidences through statements earlier recorded and any new material that may assist the investigation.”

The statement added that the police boss also asked officers to identify, trace, and thoroughly investigate all persons connected either directly or indirectly to the incident.

The police are calling on members of the public with useful information to come forward, adding that all details shared will be treated with the highest confidentiality.

The Command says it is committed to justice, protecting lives, and making sure incidents like this are not ignored.
