Sowore Disputes Ned Nwoko, Shares New Proof On Regina Daniels’ Age
Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore has challenged Senator Ned Nwoko’s recent statement regarding the age of his wife, actress Regina Daniels, at the time of their marriage. While the senator claimed Daniels was 21 when they wed, Sowore insists she was under 18.
The controversy began when Senator Nwoko shared what he described as Daniels’ voter’s card on social media, showing her date of birth as 1998. Based on this, the senator argued that she was 21 years old when they married in 2019.
However, Sowore quickly disputed this claim by posting a copy of Daniels’ international passport. According to the passport, Daniels was born on October 10, 2001, implying she was a minor at the time of her marriage.
In a statement on his official Facebook page, Sowore said, “We have obtained Regina Daniels’ international passport, issued based on her birth certificate. She was underage when she married Chinedu @Senator Prince Ned Nwoko.”
Sowore also raised concerns about the reliability of voter’s cards, suggesting that the process for obtaining them may not be as strictly verified as that for an international passport. “It’s important to question INEC Nigeria regarding this inconsistency. A voter’s card may not undergo the thorough verification required for an international passport, which relies on a birth certificate and other official documents,” he wrote.
Additionally, Sowore accused the senator of deliberately hiding Daniels’ true age. He claimed Nwoko avoided travelling with her to Europe or the United States to prevent scrutiny of her official documents. “The senator knew what he was doing. That is why he never travelled with @ReginaDaniels to Europe or America,” Sowore alleged.
