Kefas reaffirms commitment to religious harmony, inclusive governance in Taraba
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has declared that the state’s strength lies in its diversity, emphasizing that religious harmony remains the foundation for lasting peace and progress.
Kefas made the remark at the weekend during a meeting with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Muslim Council of Nigeria, MCN.
The meeting, held at the Executive Council Chamber of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, focused on strategies to promote peace, unity and sustainable development across the state.
Describing the engagement as a “critical step toward strengthening interfaith harmony and inclusive governance,” the governor expressed appreciation to religious leaders for their continuous prayers, guidance and support for his administration.
“Our state can only achieve true development when there is mutual respect and understanding among all faiths. As leaders, we must continue to bridge divides and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood,” Kefas said.
Drawing from both the Bible and the Qur’an, the governor underscored the shared teachings of peace and unity across the two major religions.
Quoting Psalm 133:1 and Qur’an 3:103, Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, assuring the religious leaders that their contributions will continue to inform policies aimed at strengthening social cohesion and ensuring equitable development in Taraba State.
In their response, representatives of both CAN and the Muslim Council commended the governor’s open door leadership style and dedication to fostering unity among the people.
They pledged their continued prayers and support for government initiatives that advance peace, stability and prosperity in the state.
