OAU notice to newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Loan application Process

This notice is in regards to your enquiries about the NELFund Student loan process, please note the following:

  1. All students – Returning and Newly admitted (Freshers) can apply for the NELFund Loan.

  2. All Newly admitted (Freshers) students can only commence the NELFUND loan application after they have received their matriculation numbers.

The NELFUND Loan application is available via: https://portal.nelf.gov.ng/auth/login

The NELFund Student loan has two components:

  • Upkeep: This amount is paid directly to the applicant’s (student) account. The amount is N20, 000 each month. Please note that only students that request for this component during the application process will receive this amount.

  • School Charges: This amount is paid directly to the University’s account for the settlement of your school charges. If you have paid your school charges before the loan disbursement, the school will refund the amount to your account.

Please note that the NELFUND Student Loan application process takes some time before payments are received.

While you await your NELFUND payment, and in order for you to be able to commence your course registration process, you will need to make a part-payment representing 50% of  the approved School Charges.

Again, please note that any amount paid by each NELFUND applicant will be refunded once NELFUND credits the University with your full School Charges amount.

We wish you a wonderful student experience during the 2025/2026 session.
