FUTA announces 188th Inaugural Lecture: “Mathematics — Myths, Mysteries and Life”

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has announced its 188th Inaugural Lecture titled “Mathematics: Myths, Mysteries and Life”, to be delivered by Professor Felix Ilesanmi Alao, a distinguished Professor of Mathematics (Fluid Mechanics) from the Department of Mathematical Sciences.


The event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, FUTA, beginning promptly at 3:00 PM. Guests are expected to be seated by 2:45 PM.

Professor Alao, who holds a B.Sc. (Benin), M.Tech., and Ph.D. (Akure), is set to explore the fascinating intersections of mathematics with everyday life—demystifying the myths and unraveling the mysteries surrounding the discipline.

The lecture will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, FAS, and coordinated by the Registrar, Mr. C.O. Adeleye, who officially signed the announcement.
