Tinubu’s pardon list shrouded in secrecy – Maxwell Opara

Lawyer and human rights advocate, Maxwell Opara, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s pardon list is shrouded in secrecy.

Opara made this statement on Friday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television monitored by Waploaded, stressing that the public deserves transparency.

He equally said that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Just, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, should apologise and resign for the negligence and incompetence that surrounded the list.

“If Nigerians had not revolted, he would have allowed the president to sign the list without proper scrutiny. Everything was shrouded in secrecy.

“The list should be made public, and the public should have the opportunity to make their input,” he said.

His comment is coming a few days after Tinubu reduced the death sentence passed on Maryam Sanda to 12 years imprisonment.

Waploaded reports that a statement by the AGF Fagbemi, also indicated that four Nigerians sentenced to death have their sentence reduced to life imprisonment.
