Fed Poly Bauchi notice to graduating students on guidelines for signing out ceremony

The Rector of this institution had earlier received a request from the officials of the Student Union Government (SUG EXCOs) for an approval to conduct a Signing-Out Ceremony within the School Campus. The request was initially declined for the fear that the students might not conduct the ceremony decently and in a manner acceptable to the Management of the Institution. However, after the SUG officials pleaded that the ceremony will be conducted within the confines of the Polytechnic Stadium and in the presence of their invited parents, guardians and even the institution’s religious leaders; the Rector later reconsidered and accepted their request.

This acceptance also followed a Security Intelligence Report that the students were planning to carry out the ceremony outside the institution. The Rector in consultation with the Chief Registrar, Dean Students Affairs and the HOD of the Department of Mass Communication and with the advice of the Chief Security Officer, weighed the pros and cons of the students conducting such a ceremony outside the school environment where there will not be security guards or monitoring officials and consequently, he opted to allow them to conduct the ceremony within the institution with clear and unambiguous conditions. The conditions are as stipulated below:

(a). The SUG President and his EXCOs will be held responsible for any misconduct that will occur during the ceremony.

(b). No activity of any sort pertaining to the Ceremony will be held outside the Stadium fence.

(c). No graduating student will wear-on his/her graduation T-Shirt during the ceremony.
By this order, it means all T-Shirts will be held by the graduating students in their hands during the signing-out ceremony.

(d). There must not be any rough driving by any motorist/cyclist within the institution and around the venue of the ceremony. Defaulters of this instruction will be arrested and handed over to police authorities.

(e). The whole ceremony will be strictly timed to last only three (3) hours from the starting of the programme and from time stated in the programme of events. No additional time will be allowed as a result of late starting of the programme.

(f). No graduating student will be allowed to come into the venue with already signed T-Shirt. By this order, it is expected that there will be no any signing–out outside the venue of the event.

(g). The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi dress code will be strictly observed and any student or guest who is observed to be indecently dressed will be sent out of the Venue of event.

(h). The SUG President will before start of the programme sign an undertaking for guaranteeing a smooth and decent conduct of the ceremony.

All to note and comply.
