The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially granted approval for the establishment of four new full-time academic programmes at the Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The approval follows a resource verification visit conducted by NUC experts to assess the human and material resources available at the university for the proposed programmes.

According to a letter dated October 17, 2025, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, the approved programmes are:

 * MBBS, Medicine and Surgery

* B.Sc. Human Anatomy

 * B.Sc. Human Physiology

 * B.Sc. Pharmacology

The letter, signed by Abubakar M. Girei on behalf of the Executive Secretary, emphasizes that the approval is for the full-time mode of delivery only. It further clarified that any proposal for a part-time mode of delivery must first be forwarded to the Commission for further processing and approval.

The NUC enjoined the university to ensure adequate human and material resources are maintained for the development and growth of the approved programmes, noting that the approval bears only on the listed programmes and nomenclature.

The inclusion of the MBBS, Medicine and Surgery programme marks a significant expansion for the Federal University Kashere, paving the way for it to begin training medical professionals.
