FUOTUOKE announces vacancy for the post of Vice Chancellor
The post of Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Otuoke, Nigeria, will soon become vacant.
In line with the provisions of the Federal University Otuoke (Establishment) Act 2015 and the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts of 1993, 2003, and 2012, the Governing Council of the University hereby announces the commencement of the process for filling the position.
The Job
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University, the Chairman of Senate, and a member of the Governing Council.
The Vice-Chancellor shall:
Advise Council on policy, finance, and administrative matters.
Maintain efficiency and good order of the University.
Ensure enforcement of Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations.
Oversee discipline within the University.
Regulate student admissions in line with Senate guidelines.
The Candidate
Applicants must:
Hold a good University degree, including a PhD, and possess strong leadership qualities.
Be a Professor with at least six (6) years of experience at that rank.
Be a person of proven integrity and academic excellence.
Be ICT-proficient and committed to integrating technology into University administration.
Strengthen relationships within the University community.
Understand and uphold the vision and mission of the University.
Be in sound physical and mental health.
Not be more than 65 years old at the time of assumption of duty.
Terms and Conditions of Service
The appointment is for one non-renewable term of five (5) years.
Remuneration and conditions are consistent with those of Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities in Nigeria, subject to government and Council decisions.
Method of Application
Applications must be submitted in 25 copies, each accompanied by a signed and dated curriculum vitae containing:
Full name, biodata, education, and professional record (not exceeding 400 words).
Key academic appointments, achievements, completed postgraduate supervision, scholarly publications, and community service.
Copies of degree, NYSC, and other relevant certificates.
Applicants must provide three referees, who should each send a confidential report directly to the Registrar, in sealed envelopes marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor: Referee’s Report” at the top left-hand corner.
Each application must also include 25 copies of a vision statement (maximum 500 words) on the candidate’s vision for the University in the 21st century.
Candidates identified through the University’s search process must comply with the same requirements and include a signed letter of consent.

The envelope should be clearly marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor” at the top left-hand corner and must reach the Registrar within six (6) weeks from the date of this advertisement.
