Police arrest suspected drug peddlers, recover illicit drugs in Delta
Operatives of the Crack Squad, Delta State Police Command, have arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered a large cache of illicit drugs from them in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Igwe Samson (33) and Abalum Sunday (39), were arrested on October 12, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m., DAILY POST can report.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri.
He said, “Operatives of the Crack Squad, Delta State Command, Asaba, acting on credible intelligence on a suspected drug peddler, stormed a hideout at Effurun GRA and arrested one Igwe Samson (33) and Abalum Sunday (39).”
According to SP Edafe, “Upon a search of their Sienna vehicle, four hundred and fifty (450) bottles of CSP codeine, one hundred and eighty-eight (188) bottles of Barcadine, two hundred and eight (208) sachets of Tramadol 100mg, three hundred (300) sachets of Swinol, one hundred (100) sachets of Tramadol 500mg, fifty (50) sachets of Rohypnol, and a bag of weed suspected to be cannabis were recovered.”
SP Edafe added that “The suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that they have been in the business for about two years and usually buy the drugs at Onitsha, preferring to travel at night to avoid being caught.”
He further noted that “Efforts to arrest their suppliers and receivers are ongoing.”
