The Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission, SIEC, Dr Mamman Mohammed, has died.

He passed away on Monday at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, after a brief illness.

Family sources said the funeral prayer for the late SIEC Chairman will hold on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Emir of Fika’s Palace in Potiskum town.

The Fika Emirate Council confirmed his death in a statement on its official Facebook page, describing him as the “Shamakin Fika.”

“May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah. Amin,” the statement read in part.

Until his death, Dr Mohammed, who held the traditional title of Shamaki Fika, served as Chairman of SIEC, where he oversaw local government elections in the state.
