Police rescue kidnap victims, recover motorcycle in Kano, Kaduna operations

The Kano State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims and recovered a motorcycle and other exhibits in two separate operations carried out in Kano and Kaduna States.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

According to the statement, the first operation took place on October 7, 2025, when operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, in collaboration with a Surveillance Team from the Bebeji Division, launched a rescue mission based on credible intelligence.

Kiyawa said the team rescued Abdul Hamid Bello, a 21-year-old man who had escaped from his abductors after being severely beaten.

The victim later led the police to the kidnappers’ hideout in Saya-Saya, Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where another victim, Musa Idris, aged 65, was also freed.

“The kidnappers fled upon sighting the police, leaving behind a motorcycle and a rope used in tying the victims. Both rescued persons have since been reunited with their families and are receiving medical care,” Kiyawa said.

In a related development, on October 9, 2025, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad secured the release of another victim, Ashiru Murtala, a 19-year-old who was abducted in Beli Village, Rogo Local Government Area of Kano on October 5.

The statement said the victim was found abandoned at a sugarcane farm in Hunkuyi, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following pressure from police operatives.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bakori, directed that all rescued victims receive proper medical attention and assured residents that the command will not relent in the fight against kidnapping.

“There is no hiding place for criminals in Kano State,” the CP warned.

He commended the officers involved in the operation, urging residents to continue providing useful information to aid police efforts.
