72-year-old man, children arraigned for alleged drug dealing in Kano

A 72-year-old man and his two children have been arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 28 in Gano, Kano State over allegations of selling illicit drugs.

The suspects, all residents of Unguwar Makera in Dawakin Kudu local government area, were charged following a complaint lodged by community members led by the village head of Tamburawar Dan-Tube, Alhaji Auwalu Umar.

According to reports, the dispute began when the head of the local vigilante group warned the elderly man to desist from selling hard drugs. The warning allegedly led to a confrontation involving his children, during which a vigilante member was injured.

Police said the suspects were arrested after receiving reports from the community and were charged with conspiracy, intimidation, and possession of hard drugs.

During the proceedings before Magistrate Malika Muhammad, the defendants’ family sought an amicable settlement with the complainants.

The court granted them bail under strict conditions, including that the 72-year-old man must personally appear at every sitting.
