Social media critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has spoken out after being called out by an Igbo man, Tochukwu Harrison Mmaduboallor, regarding his recent visit to China.

According to GistLover, Tochukwu accused the activist of damaging the businesses of Igbo traders in China.

The accusation followed after VeryDarkMan shared videos of himself touring several companies in China, where he expressed his goal of bridging the gap between Chinese manufacturers and Nigerian consumers.

However, Tochukwu claimed that VeryDarkMan was revealing trade secrets that many Igbo businessmen depend on to survive in China.

“Business is all about secrecy,” Tochukwu said in a viral video that triggered widespread reactions online.

Responding to the allegation, VeryDarkMan explained that his meeting with Chinese manufacturers was driven by his intention to encourage Nigerians and Africans to venture into business.

He stressed that he never mentioned the Igbo or any tribe in his videos, adding that he wanted to take his influence beyond social media and apply it in real life.

“Very selfish, it just made me see, do Nigerians really want Nigeria to grow? Because this is the same mentality wey never let us get light.

I am just opening eyes for people to do business. I don’t have plans to spoil anybody’s business; the sky is too big for everybody to fly,” he said in part.

In the caption of his video, he added:

“The problem of Nigeria is not only the government, as you can see, the mindset of the average man lacks togetherness.”
