OAU SUG mandates students to notify the union before any social event
The Director of Socials of the Students’ Union reminds the Great Ife community of the constitutional provisions guiding social activities. Section 31(1) of the Union’s Constitution states that “the Director of Socials and Culture shall be responsible for all social activities of the Union.” Section 14(1) further clarifies that this covers all matriculated students who have paid Union dues, honorary life members, and patrons.
Accordingly, no social event within OAU shall hold without the prior knowledge and approval of the Union’s Director of Socials and Culture. This is to ensure proper coordination, accountability, and above all, the security and safety of all students.
Faculties, departments, and student organizations are therefore required to duly communicate their planned activities to the office of the Director of Socials and Culture. This is not only in keeping with the constitution, but also to ensure smooth coordination, accountability, and most importantly, the security and safety of students during every event.
The Union remains committed to fostering a vibrant, safe, and well-coordinated social atmosphere for all students. Together, let us uphold the constitution and preserve the integrity of our community.
