Portable has alerted his fans to a man reportedly impersonating him during live performances, following the circulation of videos showing the lookalike performing his songs.

The singer accused the impersonator of taking payments for shows and urged his followers to confront anyone pretending to be him but stressed they should not drag him into any physical confrontations.

In a firm social media post, Portable told fans that if they encounter someone performing his songs or copying his style, they should “deal with it themselves,” warning that complaints and petitions would likely follow any violent action.

He highlighted the value of his brand, stating, “I collect 10 million plus for my shows,” emphasizing that no one should profit from his name.

The situation arose after clips of a performer resembling Portable surfaced online, with some shows and short performances being attributed to the lookalike.

Fans argued that impostors taking bookings and performing his catalogue without permission could cost him both income and reputation.

Portable claimed the impersonator had been paid as much as N250,000 for a show, an amount he described as far below his standard fees. He made it clear he would still honor legitimate bookings but warned against impersonation and the resulting financial losses.

Framing his comments as protection of his livelihood, Portable said, “If they call me for show I go go o,” urging his supporters to safeguard his brand rather than tagging him for action.

Public reaction was immediate and mixed, with some fans defending Portable’s position, while others advised caution.
