Rema Links Up With Apala Legend Wasiu Haruna Ishola At Car Dealership, Fans React
Nigerian music sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, recently crossed paths with veteran Apala singer Alhaji Wasiu Haruna Ishola at a car dealership, and a video of their meeting quickly circulated online.
The clip shows Rema rising to his feet as he is introduced to the elder musician. Initially seated, Ishola shook Rema’s hand before standing to greet him properly. Rema responded with a polite bow while they exchanged pleasantries, and the pair later recorded a short video together.
Photos from the encounter capture the two artistes posing side by side. In one shot, Ishola held a phone to his ear while Rema stood respectfully beside him, hands clasped in greeting. Afterward, Rema continued a conversation with the dealership representative both men had come to see.
The interaction sparked buzz among fans of both performers. Many speculated that the meeting could hint at an upcoming collaboration, noting that younger artists are increasingly showing interest in traditional Fuji and Apala music.
Reactions, however, were mixed. Some viewers felt Rema should have gone further by prostrating a customary show of respect in Yoruba culture since Ishola is old enough to be his father. Others remarked on Rema’s lifestyle, suggesting he could have demonstrated even more courtesy. At the same time, many praised Ishola’s humility for standing to greet the younger star despite the age difference.
