Nollywood actress Amarachi Igidimbah has clarified her position on marriage after facing criticism over a recent clip featuring actor Yul Edochie.

The controversy began when Amarachi posted a video of herself meeting Yul on what appeared to be a movie set. In the footage, she praised him and jokingly told women to stay away because “he is taken.”

Sharing the clip on Instagram, Amarachi wrote:

“Odogwu! Onye m for long @yuledochie. I read this script and fell in love, then I asked who is playing this rival character and heard YUL EDOCHIE… I said, say no more Sir, I am coming because I already know it’s a hit. Always a good time on set with you Onyem, Ezigbo onye film.”

Some social media users interpreted her remarks as supporting Yul’s marriage to a second wife, Judy Austin, accusing her of promoting polygamy.

Responding to the backlash, Amarachi explained that her words were simply playful banter with Yul. She stressed that she strongly believes in monogamy and has no intention of taking sides in the actor’s family issues, noting that she “will never inherit enmity in a family war.”

“The misconception here is me saying He is Taken. Is he a Single Man? Is he not still a legally married man, what else am I supposed to respond when a married man says girls are running around him? Why are you people angry with that statement if not for your biased mindset and hungry to devour any Yul acquaintance mindset? Note that all these statements were made on cruise, vibes and hype mood, nothing serious or personal. Everybody who knows me personally knows my stance on this matter and were truly shocked to see the misinterpreted narratives flying around. I am a big advocate of 1 man 1 woman. I am big on good energy and will never celebrate another person’s pain. I repeat, Do I support what has happened to this family, CAPITAL NO! But that does not also mean that I should inherit enmity in a family war that I do not know the genesis of, or not vibe with my senior colleague,” she said.
