EPL: ‘He’s special’ – Thierry Henry names ‘fearless’ Chelsea’s signing
Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has hailed ‘fearless’ £44 million Chelsea signing, Geovany Quenda.
Henry said he is a fan of Quenda, who he described as a ‘special’ player.
Manchester United also wanted to sign Quenda but Chelsea won race for his signature, despite the 18-year-old making his breakthrough under now Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim.
He will remain at Sporting CP until next summer and has enjoyed a brilliant start to this season.
He has already made five goal contributions in seven appearances, including a goal and an assist for Sporting in their opening Champions League game – a 4-1 win over Kairat Almaty.
Henry said he was very impressed by Quenda, saying he was a ‘huge fan’ of the teenager.
He told CBS: “He’s special. The way he goes about what he does, I like it.
“He has no fear, you would expect that from a youngster.”
Football fans and pundits have compared Quenda to Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.
