Tomeka Thiam, wife of iconic American singer and songwriter Akon, has reportedly filed for divorce after nearly three decades of marriage.

The couple, who married on September 15, 1996, share a 17-year-old child.

Reason Behind the Divorce

According to TMZ, Tomeka Thiam initiated divorce proceedings just four days before their 29th wedding anniversary, citing irreconcilable differences.

Tomeka is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 17-year-old child. She is also requesting spousal support while preventing Akon from receiving any support from her.

Akon, who has been candid about his personal life, is known to have multiple children with different partners and has had complex relationships over the years.
