“Stand down”- VeryDarkMan Backs Down on Dangote Protest After Phyna’s Sister’s Death

Social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has announced that he will no longer pursue protests or content creation against Dangote’s businesses following the death of Phyna’s sister in an accident involving one of the company’s trucks.

In a video statement, the activist revealed that supporters in Auchi had urged him to take action against Dangote’s operations. However, he called on them to “stand down,” stressing that he would not escalate the matter. According to him, while Dangote’s truck drivers have developed a reputation for recklessness, he will only intervene again if similar tragedies occur in the future.

His remarks have stirred mixed reactions online, with some critics accusing him of backing down too easily in the face of corporate power, while others praised him for choosing not to escalate tensions unnecessarily.

VeryDarkMan, however, maintained that his advocacy remains focused on holding big corporations accountable for public safety, adding that future cases of recklessness would not go unchallenged.
