Tears as Slain Businessman, Martins Onyekesi, Laid to Rest in Anambra

It was an atmosphere of grief and sorrow as the remains of slain businessman, Mr. Martins Ifesinachi Onyekesi, popularly known as Fish Magnate, were laid to rest at his family compound in Eziakpu Village, Ikenga, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Onyekesi, a well-known fish processor and seller who promoted his business actively on social media, was abducted last month by unidentified persons. His lifeless body was later dumped in a nearby town, with instructions given to his family to retrieve it.

At his burial on Thursday, relatives, friends, and sympathizers wept as his body was committed to the earth in a brief but solemn ceremony. The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the event.

The burial featured minimal speeches, with prayers offered by the family at the graveside.

Onyekesi’s death has sparked widespread reactions, including a protest led by activist Martins Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man, who called for an end to rising killings in Anambra State.
