Big Brother Naija winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has addressed criticisms after narrating her unpleasant encounter with a street beggar in Lagos traffic.

The reality TV star took to social media to share that a young man, whom she identified as Yoruba, damaged her car after she refused to give him money. According to her, the beggar had earlier written his account number on her windscreen while pleading for assistance.

“But this particular boy was Yoruba, na you was putting his account number on my windscreen. His name was fully Yoruba. While hanging on my car, it was when I didn’t do transfer he yanked out the stuff from my car,” Phyna wrote.

She further clarified that her comments were not tribalistic, insisting she was only describing what she witnessed.

“I’m not being tribalistic, they possess the natural Yoruba street character, they speak Yoruba, and jump and cause like a typical Yoruba person. I don’t live with them, it’s what I see. This is what one of them did to my car,” she added.

Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some accusing her of profiling while others sympathized with her experience in Lagos traffic.
