“Stop Seeking Relevance”- Brymo Calls Out Burna Boy, Davido, Top Stars Over Remixes
Singer Olawale Ibrahim Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo, has called out some of Nigeria’s biggest artistes, accusing them of exploiting younger musicians through remix collaborations.
Taking to his Instagram story, the 39-year-old mentioned Burna Boy, Davido and other mainstream stars, urging them to stop “jumping on every hit song in a remix.”
According to him, these collaborations don’t necessarily uplift the upcoming acts but instead make the bigger artistes look like they are “seeking relevance.”
Brymo wrote:
“Dear Nigerian mainstream A-listers… Burna… Davido… and Co.. stop jumping on every hit song in a remix, especially releases by newer acts… let other artistes find their own way, the pretending to be helping them reach higher is a ridiculous watch…
stop seeking relevance in the efforts of ones who know little about the business… it’s vile!!..”
His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with fans debating whether remixes truly promote emerging artistes or overshadow them.

@fikunademii wrote: Brymo has a point, because sometimes the bigger artistes overshadow the upcoming ones instead of letting them shine, the remix becomes more about the superstar than the original creator. collaborations can also open doors and give visibility that the younger acts may never get alone. The problem is balance, if the intent is to genuinely support then it works, but if it’s just to ride on a wave, it cheapens the craft.
