Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has said he has not been impressed every time he watched new Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres play.

Gyokeres arrived at the Emirates for a transfer fee of £63million from Sporting CP this summer.

Ferdinand has now urged fans to “calm down” when it comes to their expectations over 27-year-old Gyokeres.

Mikel Arteta gave Gyokeres his competitive debut at Old Trafford on Sunday, but he failed to register a shot, before he was replaced by Kai Havertz in the second half.

Ferdinand, speaking on Cheeky Sport, said: “Calm down. I’ve seen him live twice and I watched him [play for Arsenal against Manchester United on Sunday].

“I haven’t seen enough to warrant his [price tag] given his performance against a dysfunctional Man United.”
