Ayra Starr Voices Concern As New ‘Hot Body’ Trend Sparks Mixed Reactions

Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has voiced concerns that her latest social media trend, “Hot Body,” could spark conspiracy theories.

The singer, who recently released the track under Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, admitted she worries about being misinterpreted. Taking to X, she wrote:

“I better not get any mami water allegation because of this hot body video.”

“Hot Body” marks her first single with the label, and to promote it, she and her team introduced a viral challenge where young women showcase their bodies while dancing to the song.

However, the trend has stirred controversy. Some critics argue it encourages nudity, with fellow artist Jaywon even questioning her fashion choices and asking whether she has parental guidance.

This isn’t the first time an artist under Mavin Records has faced such claims. In November 2023, Ayra Starr’s label mate Rema was accused of promoting occult imagery during his headline show at London’s O2 Arena. At the time, online critics alleged his stage symbols were linked to the Illuminati.

Rema later clarified that the horse he rode was inspired by a Benin artifact, while his mask replicated the historic Queen Idia mask. In a March 2025 interview with Rolling Stone, he further dismissed rumors of satanic affiliations, denying claims of Illuminati ties, devil worship, or blood rituals.
