Afrobeats star Omah Lay has accused fellow musician Rema of copying the concept for his upcoming album, backing his claim with screenshots of past private chats where he allegedly shared his ideas.

The allegation comes after Omah Lay previously hinted in an interview that a colleague had taken advantage of his trust by using his creative concepts.

According to him, once the other artist released an album based on those ideas, he was forced to return to the studio and rework his own project from scratch.

Recently leaked messages, said to be from Omah Lay’s secondary account, appear to show conversations between the two singers in 2023 about collaborating and experimenting with a new sound. The chats capture a series of exchanges where they traded ideas and discussed potential joint work before the supposed fallout.
