“Losing My Son Transformed My Life”- Davido Opens Up
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has opened up about the profound impact of losing his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
In October 2022, Davido and his wife, Chioma, tragically lost their three-year-old son after he drowned in a swimming pool at their Banana Island, Lagos home.
In a recent conversation with ABC News host Rocsi Diaz, Davido described the loss as a life-altering experience that reshaped his outlook on both life and his music career.
He also expressed pride in how he and Chioma managed to cope with the tragedy, highlighting their ability to support each other and gradually move forward.
The singer shared that their resilience has inspired many people, noting that numerous individuals have approached him over time to express gratitude for showing strength and perseverance during difficult moments.
“Stepping away after losing my son and being able to look back into my career, gave me a refocus of how I wanted to move going forward. It changed my life.
“I know how many who randomly come to me at the airport to tell me how my strength has inspired them in hard times. I was telling me wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back. Now, we got twins. They are big and shouting everywhere. For us to be able to go through the lost of our son and be able to bounce back in a major way is huge,” Davido said.
