UNICAL approved academic calendar, 2025/2026 session

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has officially released its approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session, outlining key dates for both new and returning students. The announcement provides clarity on the institution’s schedule as students prepare for the upcoming academic year.

First Semester (September 2025 – February 2026)

The session kicks off on Friday, September 19, 2025, with the arrival of newly admitted students. Screening and registration for new students begin on Monday, September 22, while returning students are expected back on campus from Tuesday, September 23.

Lectures for all students commence on Thursday, September 25, followed by the Solemn Assembly on Monday, September 29. Freshers’ orientation is set for October 9–10, and matriculation will hold on Friday, December 5. The semester will run for 16 weeks, including 12 weeks of lectures and four weeks of examinations.

Students will go on Christmas break on Friday, December 19, and resume on Friday, January 9, 2026. Revision begins on January 12, with GSS exams starting on January 19 and other course examinations following from January 26. The first semester officially ends on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Second Semester (March 2026 – July 2026)

Second semester activities begin with the return of students to campus on Friday, March 13, 2026. Lectures resume on Monday, March 23, after registration for 500-level Stream B students.

The 38th Convocation Ceremony will take place between March 23 and 28, while continuous assessment for all students is scheduled for May 4–8. Revision begins on June 8, with exams running from June 15 until July 13.

The session officially ends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, marking the start of the long vacation.
