“I Don’t Support Online Drama”- Angela Okorie Clears The Air On Mohbad Group Chat
Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has spoken out about the ongoing controversy surrounding the leaked WhatsApp group chat connected to the death of singer Mohbad.
The chat, which featured several well-known Nigerian celebrities, was made public by social media activist VeryDarkMan, quickly circulating online and drawing widespread attention. The leak sparked debates and speculation about the roles of those involved in the conversations.
Angela Okorie, who recently apologised to fellow actress Mercy Johnson after weeks of online disputes, addressed the matter via her Instagram stories. She distanced herself from the controversy, making it clear that she avoids gossip or campaigns that target others.
According to her, she left the WhatsApp group as soon as she realised that the discussions did not align with her personal values. She stressed that she prioritises integrity and fairness, refusing to participate in conversations that could harm others.
Responding to claims that her posts were directed at actress Iyabo Ojo, Angela shared a video to clarify the misunderstanding. She explained that her comments were not about Iyabo but another woman who had added her to the group. Angela revealed that the woman later called to apologise privately, though she never offered a public apology, which Angela considered insincere.
The actress expressed disappointment that her statements were often misinterpreted and used to spark unnecessary conflicts. She reaffirmed her respect for Iyabo Ojo, noting that she has always supported her. Angela also stated that she maintains a cordial relationship with Naira Marley, despite the backlash he has faced since Mohbad’s passing.
Angela Okorie emphasised that the focus should remain on securing justice for Mohbad rather than fueling online drama. She concluded by urging people to be mindful of their actions, warning that spreading false or harmful narratives only causes more damage.
