Tijani Onwenu, the son of late Nigerian music icon Onyeka Onwenu, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his mother as he marks one year since her passing.

As reported by Gistlover, the legendary singer collapsed shortly after performing at the 80th birthday celebration of Stella Okolie in Lagos on July 31, 2024. She was immediately rushed to Reddington Hospital, where she was later confirmed dead.

Commemorating the somber anniversary on July 30, 2025, Tijani shared a simple but emotional message:

“A year ago, today.
RIP Mom
July 30, 2024.”

The message stirred emotion online as fans joined him in remembering the woman fondly referred to as the “Elegant Stallion,” whose powerful voice and cultural influence left a lasting legacy in Nigerian music and media.
