A fire disaster on Tuesday hit a 30-room building in Ilorin the Kwara State capital.
The incident occurred at about 09:40hours at Down Winners, behind Tomopewa Apartments, Tanke Oke-Odo area of Ilorin.
The spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, in a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday, said firefighters responded promptly to a distress call on the incident.
On arrival, the fire crew swiftly commenced operations to curtail the spread and damage.
“The affected building was a storey structure comprising 30 rooms. Unfortunately, three rooms on the upper floor were damaged by the inferno.”
He disclosed that preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was caused by a power surge.
The Director, Kwara State fire service, urged members of the public to remain safety conscious and always adopt preventive measures to avoid similar incidents.
