“I Feel Sad Comedy Paved the Way for Me” – Nasboi Laments Disrespect for His Music
Popular Nigerian comedian and musician Nasboi has opened up about the emotional toll of being stereotyped because of his comedy roots.
Known widely for his viral “Low Budget OBO” skits, where he mimicked Afrobeats star Davido, Nasboi revealed that while comedy gave him visibility, it also made people dismiss his talent as a serious musician.
In a heartfelt post on X, he wrote:
“Deep down I feel really sad comedy paved the way for me. This have made a lot of people disrespect my music. We keep going! And yes the comments get to me. I be human being.”
Nasboi rose to fame in 2019 when his Davido-inspired comedy skits went viral. Although he originally created those videos to draw attention to his music, they pushed him further into the comedy scene. He later developed characters like Akpan and Ikechukwu, which solidified his status as a top content creator.
Despite his success in comedy, Nasboi is now focusing on music, hoping audiences will take him more seriously as an artist.
