Adekunle Gold Threatens Legal Action Against Bank Over ‘First-Class Giveaway’ Ad

Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has publicly expressed his displeasure after a popular bank allegedly used his viral ‘first-class giveaway’ idea for their marketing without seeking his permission.

The artist had recently introduced a giveaway initiative aimed at rewarding individuals with first-class degrees, offering them cash prizes as a way of recognizing their academic accomplishments.

However, the bank appeared to jump on the trend and used it in a promotional message that read:

“AG Baby no send you first class gift? No worries, ALAT’s got you covered. Enjoy up to 70% off your favorite brands this weekend via eVouchers on the ALAT app – it’s no crime to not have a first-class degree.”

In response to the ad, Adekunle Gold called out the financial institution, questioning when they began using his idea and warning that his lawyers would be reaching out to them soon.

He wrote, “Dear @wemabank @alat_ng, when did this start? You’ll be hearing from my people.
