Ayo Maff’s Manager Slams Tunesbid Over Contract Breach

Ayotunde Oyefeso, the manager of rising Nigerian singer Ayo Maff, has accused the artiste’s former record label, Tunesbid Limited, of breaching contractual agreements and failing to fulfill their financial obligations.

In a recent interview with PUNCHNG, Ayotunde explained that Ayo Maff’s decision to leave the label was due to Tunesbid’s inability to meet the financial terms of their agreement. He revealed that the contract allowed the artist to walk away if the label failed in its responsibilities.

According to Ayotunde, the contract stipulated that Ayo Maff would receive a total advance of ₦100 million, to be disbursed in quarterly payments of ₦25 million. However, the label allegedly failed to pay a single installment.

“We gave the label a two-week notice of our intention to walk away, as stipulated in the contract, and if they wanted to rectify the situation, they could have done that within that time.

According to the contract, Ayo was supposed to get an advance sum of N100m, but because we didn’t want to collect the money at once, we asked the company to pay N25m quarterly. But they never paid a dime except one time that the CEO of the label gave him N100 for his ‘sacrifices’.

Imagine an artiste who had such wave-making songs, yet he did not have an apartment, but was squatting with friends. The label collects 100 per cent of the royalties and concert fees coming in. So, what is the artiste supposed to live on?” he said.

Ayotunde also claimed that Tunesbid did not fund any of Ayo Maff’s music videos. In particular, the visuals for the hit single “Dealer”, which featured Fireboy DML, were reportedly paid for by Fireboy himself.

He concluded by stating that, following a failed attempt at mediation, the label’s CEO demanded a staggering ₦400 million in response a move that has further deepened the conflict.
