Tiwa Savage Heartbroken as Passport Delay Threatens Album Plans and Son’s Birthday
Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has shared a deeply emotional experience with fans, revealing a frustrating visa and passport issue that has left her distraught and at risk of missing out on major career and personal plans.
Taking to Snapchat just hours ago, the singer opened up about the ordeal, explaining that she is currently stuck in limbo while waiting for a visa decision with her passport still unreturned and a significant London shoot for her upcoming album hanging in the balance.
“I don’t even know whether my visa was approved or not. All I know is my passport is not out,” she wrote.
Clearly overwhelmed, Tiwa added, “I have a huge shoot in London and if I miss it, I miss soooo many opportunities surrounding my album and its release date. I feel like crying 💔.”
The frustration didn’t stop there. She revealed that she had also planned a special birthday trip for her son, Jamil, which is now completely derailed.
“Jamil’s birthday is tomorrow and the travel plans I had for him, all ruined. My heart is so heavy,” she said in another post. “I’m just going to switch off today. Praying that God gives life and hope tomorrow.”
Her candid outpouring quickly sparked waves of support from fans online. Many sent prayers and encouraging messages, while others criticized the bureaucratic delays in Nigeria’s visa and passport system noting how even high-profile citizens like Tiwa Savage aren’t spared.
Tiwa, who has had a packed year with international performances and the release of her Water & Garri film project, is currently preparing for the rollout of her next album. However, this unexpected delay may affect her tight release schedule.
