Mohbad’s Brother Adura Shares Emotional Details of Singer’s Final Moment

Nearly two years after the untimely death of Nigerian singer Mohbad, new revelations have emerged this time from someone very close to him: his younger brother, Adura.

In an emotional interview with Object TV, Adura opened up about the chain of events that unfolded in the days leading up to Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023. From a fight with a friend to a frantic hospital dash and a controversial burial, Adura painted a heartbreaking picture of his brother’s final hours.

According to him, trouble began after a show Mohbad performed in Ikorodu on September 10. After the event, they waited for Zlatan to arrive before leaving. Adura and others were in one car, while Mohbad was in a Prado SUV with his wife Wunmi, Primeboy, and others.

Adura recalled an unsettling exchange with Primeboy, who he said appeared intoxicated. “The way Primeboy was talking, he was high. I told him to leave me alone. He got angry and went to report me to MOH,” he said.

Shortly after, a physical altercation allegedly broke out between Primeboy and Mohbad. When Adura returned from a cash run, he was told Primeboy had punched the singer. “I asked MOH what happened and he said Prime punched him. Wunmi, however, said Prime wasn’t at fault, so I was confused. I went to confront Primeboy for injuring MOH. I was told that MOH wanted to punch Prime Boy, that was when he hit the Prado Glass.”

The injury appeared minor at first, but things took a turn the next day. On September 11, Mohbad began complaining about the pain in his hand. Since his regular nurse was unavailable, another nurse was contacted and came to the house that afternoon coincidentally as they prepared to mark his son Liam’s 5-month birthday.

“Mohbad was in Wunmi’s room upstairs. We moved him to his own room so the nurse could treat him. There was water on the floor from the rain. I cleaned it and went back downstairs. Ten to fifteen minutes later, I heard them calling my name.”

That’s when panic set in.

“The nurse said she had injected him. MOH couldn’t talk anymore but pointed at water, so I washed his face. He also pointed at the AC. We took him back to the other room to cool off.”

As a mechanic worked outside, Adura ran off in search of transportation to get Mohbad to a hospital. By the time he returned, the singer was already being carried outside. Traffic forced them to transfer him to a bike mid-journey.

“He was gasping for breath. We got to the hospital. After 15 minutes, the doctor said he had passed. We took him to another hospital. They didn’t even let us in, just said he was brought in dead.”

Back home, Mohbad’s body was laid in the living room as the family tried to figure out the next steps. Adura said that Darosha, a close associate, suggested putting salt on Mohbad’s chest a practice he learned from his father’s burial in hopes of preserving the body. This later led to misunderstandings, including accusations of embalming.

Adura also revealed that their father, Joseph Aloba, arrived soon after and insisted on burying Mohbad that very night a decision that caused tension within the family. “We protested, but he insisted. So we took Mohbad’s body to Ikorodu that night and buried him the next day,” Adura concluded.

His heartbreaking account has reignited conversations around Mohbad’s mysterious death and the circumstances surrounding his burial.
