Victor Boniface Explains Why Fans Mistake His Humor for Rudeness on Social Media
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface says many people wrongly assume he’s rude because he shares savage memes on social media.
Speaking on The Culture League podcast, the Bayer Leverkusen star explained that the memes are simply a form of self-expression, not disrespect.
He added that the strict lifestyle expected of footballers often fuels the misconception that they’re arrogant or unfriendly.
“People have a misconception that most football players are rude or prideful just because we don’t associate too much with other professions, so people think we are rude. No, we are not,” he said.
“The public want us to be like other celebrities but there are certain things entertainers can do that we can’t do. So, when we are not doing those things, they assume that we are rude.
“Me, for example, I post a lot of savage memes and people think I’m rude but I’m not. I would never insult anyone online until you say something offensive. Some of us have in-built craziness that people have to provoke out in us but I’m just calm. But if you bring it, we will give it to you,” the striker explained.
