Temitope Solaja Reveals Why She Quietly Relocated to the U.S.

At the height of her acting career, Temitope Solaja was a familiar face in Yoruba cinema dominating YouTube screens and becoming a fan favorite. Then, just when many expected her to go mainstream or land even bigger roles, she disappeared from the spotlight.

In a candid interview on Talk to B with Biola Bayo, the actress opened up about her unexpected decision to relocate to the United States. Contrary to speculation, Temitope revealed that her move wasn’t for better opportunities or childbirth abroad it was simply a matter of survival.

“People thought I was pregnant when I relocated, and I was going to have my child in America. I would cry and wonder if I made the right decision because I wanted to go start all over.”

“It was the hardest decision I ever made. I was just tired. Tired of the system. Tired of the uncertainty. Tired of being stuck.”

Temitope revealed that her 2019 relocation wasn’t planned. Despite having fame, a growing fan base, and a strong support network in Nigeria, she walked away to seek stability for herself, her siblings, and her future children.

“It was like starting life all over again.

I had no family in the U.S., no friends. It was cold literally and emotionally.”

After moving from Houston to Indianapolis, she faced intense loneliness and culture shock. But what kept her going was her faith. “God,” she said confidently. “I may not have been a church person in Nigeria, but America taught me how spiritual life really is. I faced attacks, mental breakdowns, and moments of deep fear. But it also helped me know God for myself.”

For fans wondering if she’s planning a comeback, Temitope offered reassurance: “I’m not fully back, but I’ll be coming in and out. Nollywood will always be home.”

Her story is a reminder that sometimes, stepping away from the spotlight isn’t giving up it’s choosing survival, healing, and growth.
