Lagos State Cooperative College announces Internal & External Advertisement
The Lagos State Cooperative College established under Lagos State Cooperative College and Law 2018, with the mandate of providing training, research, learning, and management of information communication technology to co-operators and members of the public at both local and international levels, and secured institutional accreditation and approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to run National Diploma Programmes in Cooperative Economics and Management, Microfinance and Enterprise Development and Computer Science, effective from the 2021/2022 Academic Session.
The Governing Council of the institution is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals with vision, integrity, and dedication to fill the following key vacant positions in the College:
1. Provost
2. Registrar
3. Bursar
4. Librarian
5. Principal Lecturer
6. Information and System Analyst
7. Public Relations/Communication Officer
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
i. Applicants must demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills.
ii. Candidates must be ICT-proficient and demonstrate innovation and administrative competence as well as Cooperative Education experience.
iii. Applicants should have a strong understanding of Lagos State Government's educational policy directions and cooperative sector reforms.
iv. All applicants must be persons of proven integrity and must be of employable age as prescribed under the Lagos State public service.
POSITION-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provost
The Provost is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the College and is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the College.
The successful candidate would be expected to provide the required academic, administrative and professional leadership for the College in executing the broad policies laid down by the Governing Council for the achievement of the objectives for which the College was established. Candidates for the post must possess demonstrable evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative and creativity in policy formulation, management of human and material resources, good human relations and other positive managerial attributes. In addition;
1. A Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Social and Management Science, with a minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification teaching / research experience; at least five (5) year experience as a Chief Lecturer in a contemporary Education System and in addition must have held a senior teaching / research as well as holding top administrative leadership position in an institution of higher learning
2. The candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in institutional development, strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance.
3. Strong evidence of research, innovation, and resource mobilization will be a distinct advantage with good track record in result-oriented researches at national and International levels, as evident in scholarly publications.
4. Demonstrable evidence of good conduct, discipline, dedication, drive, resourcefulness and ability to command respect and loyalty of members of staff and students of the College
5. Candidate must be a person of vision, a goal getter, and one that can produce and execute a strategic plan for the College and evidence of community services at both local and national levels.
2. Principal Lecturer – Cooperative Economics & Management
1. A Master’s degree in Social and Management Sciences or related discipline. A Ph.D. is highly desirable.
2. Candidates must have substantial experience in teaching, research, and Curriculum Development in a tertiary institution.
3. Evidence of academic publications in reputable journals, participation in conferences, and the ability to supervise students’ research projects is required.
4. A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant teaching experience is expected.
5. The candidate must possess at least Six conference/Seminar Papers and Five article/journal publications, with NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate
3. Registrar
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the College, responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administration of the College, The Registrar is also the Secretary to the College Governing Council, Academic Board, Congregation and Convocation. In addition the Registrar shall have;
1. A good honours degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) in the Humanities, Social Sciences, or Arts from a recognized institution.
2. Possession of a Master’s degree and membership of relevant professional bodies such As NIM, CIPM, or IPAN will be an added advantage.
3. The candidate must have at least ten (10) years of cognate administrative experience, with a minimum of three (3) years spent in a tertiary institution managing council and academic board secretariat responsibilities.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
4. Bursar
The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the College and is directly responsible to the Provost for the management and control of the finances of the College. The Bursar shall advise the Provost on finance-related matters, coordinate the development and update the college financial management plans; coordinate the preparation of periodic income and expenditure statements, balance sheet, cash flow estimates and consolidation, when necessary. In addition the Bursar shall have;
1. A good honours degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics from a recognized University, plus full membership of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, or CPA.
2. Minimum of ten (10) years post-qualification experience in financial management and bursary functions, preferably within an academic institution.
3. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in budgeting, internal controls, audit processes, and financial reporting using modern financial software and ERP Platforms.
4. Cognate experience on the treasury and payment systems of Lagos State will be added advantage
5. College Librarian
The College Librarian is a Principal Officer and head of the College Library and shall be responsible to the Provost for the overall administration of the College, its branches and extensions and for providing library services for the entire College. In addition the Librarian shall have;
1. A good honours degree (minimum of Second Class Lower) in Library and Information Science or related discipline. Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage.
2. The candidate must have at least Twelve (12) years post-qualification cognate experience with evidence of membership of professional library body.
3. The candidate must have evidence of journal publication, seminar/conference papers. Such candidate must have at least produced 8 journals and 10 conference papers or five chapters in standard textbooks or two textbooks with NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
6. Information and Systems Analyst
1. A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
2. Professional certifications in systems analysis, database administration, or IT Infrastructure (e.g, ITIL, Cisco, Oracle) are desirable.
3. Candidates must possess strong hands-on experience in enterprise systems Integration, ICT support services, and data-driven decision-making tools within an Educational or corporate environment.
4. Must possess ability to impact knowledge in managing ICT classes if required
7. Public Relations / Communication officer
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a relate field.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience in corporate communication preferably in an academic or public service setting.
3. Candidates must have proven experience in media liaison, content creation, institution branding, stakeholder engagement, and digital communication strategy.
4. Professional certification from Public Relation or communication bodies such as NIPR or APCON is an added advantage.
