“I Ran Away From Home To Chase My Music Dreams”- Zinoleesky Reflects On His Journey Into Music

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Zinoleesky has opened up about the extreme lengths he went to in order to pursue his passion for music, including running away from home at a young age.

In a candid interview with SB Live, the singer shared how challenging it was to convince his Nigerian parents about his choice of career. He explained that many Nigerian families are resistant to children pursuing entertainment, preferring them to study professional courses or learn trades instead.

“Most Nigerian parents don’t support careers in music. They usually want their kids to study professional courses or learn a skill,” Zinoleesky said. “So, you just have to find your own path. For me, I did some crazy things  I actually ran away from home to focus on music.”

The ‘Kilofeshe’ hitmaker also revealed that his musical journey began with rapping before transitioning into singing. Zinoleesky first gained online attention in 2017 through viral freestyle videos.

Though rumors once circulated that he turned down a deal from Davido’s DMW, he eventually signed with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music in December 2019. His debut project, Chrome Eccentric, featured breakout hits like “Ma Pariwo” and “Kilofeshe,” cementing his place in the Afrobeats scene.
