DURATION
a) Postgraduate Diploma (Minimum of Two (2) Semesters (Full-Time) and Minimum of Three (3) Semesters (Part-Time)
b) M.A. /M.Sc. & MPA/MBA (Minimum of Three (3) Semesters (Full-Time) and Minimum of Four (4) Semesters (Part-Time)
c) Ph.D. (Minimum of Six (6) Semesters (Full-Time) and Minimum of Eight (8) Semesters (Part-Time)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for admission into any of the Postgraduate Programmes, a candidate shall satisfy the general University requirements as well as any special requirements for admission into the Programme of interest as contained in the admission requirements of individual Departments.
Postgraduate Diploma Programme
Admission is open to candidates having HND or First Degree in relevant discipline from any recognized Tertiary Institution.
Masters Degree Programme
Candidates seeking admission to the Masters Degree Programme must be graduates of Mountain Top University or any other University recognised by the Senate and shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class Lower Division degree in a relevant field.
M.Phil. & Ph.D. Degree Programmes
Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) & Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree Programme must (in their relevant discipline) have obtained the Bachelor and Masters Degrees of Mountain Top University or its equivalent from any other University recognised by Senate.
To qualify for direct admission into Ph.D., a candidate must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50 and above on a 5.00 point scale or equivalent (55-59%) in a Masters Degree result while candidates who graduated with a CGPA of 3.00-3.49 on a 5.00 point scale in Masters are qualified for admission into M.Phil. programme.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Interested candidates shall complete the application form on the University Portal applications.mtu.edu.ng/ and provide all relevant documents as specified on the application form, including certificates of degrees and/or diplomas, academic transcripts, reference letters, statement of purpose, concept note on the proposed area of research. Candidates who are Nigerian citizens shall, in addition, provide the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate.
Each candidate shall request and ensure that the institution(s) attended process and forward official academic transcript(s) directly to the Registrar via email pgadmission@mtu.edu.ng. Only candidates whose transcripts have been received shall be considered for admission.
