Sickle Cell Day: Adekunle Gold Launches Free Healthcare
As the world commemorates World Sickle Cell Day on June 19, Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has introduced a new healthcare initiative under his Adekunle Gold Foundation (AGF), titled 5 Star Care.
Sickle cell disease is a genetic condition that alters the shape of red blood cells, leading to restricted blood flow, chronic pain, fatigue, and various health challenges.
A survivor of the condition himself, Adekunle Gold has been vocal about his personal battle with sickle cell anaemia a story he shared through his 2022 single, 5 Star, released on July 15.
Through 5 Star Care, the singer aims to offer free, comprehensive health insurance to 1,000 individuals living with sickle cell. The program is designed to cover routine check-ups, emergency care, and long-term medical support, helping to ease the financial burden and improve access to essential healthcare services for those affected.
